Building Communities, Bridging Continents

A 30-year tradition is renewed beginning Saturday, after Thanksgiving, as the Maplewood Rotarians arrive at the Maplewood Community Pool, bright and early, to unload fresh Christmas Trees delivered from rural Pennsylvania.  Fraser Firs and Douglas Firs will be available in various sizes and one is sure to be the perfect fit for your home.  Prices range from $25 to $125.  And, you can also choose from a wonderful selection of beautiful wreaths,   expertly decorated by long-time Rotarian Carol Gilligan and her helpers.  See the Patch story here:  http://maplewood.patch.com/blog_posts/maplewood-rotary-clubs-annual-christmas-tree-sale-begins-on-saturday-until-we-sell-out Image

Can you feel the chill in the air? The smell of pine trees, cinnamon, fresh-baked goodies? Do you feel the good cheer?  Yes, ‘tis the season to be jolly as the holidays have arrived once again.  After celebrating Thanksgiving and shopping on Black Friday, it’s time to pick up your fresh Christmas Tree.

A 30-year tradition is renewed beginning the Saturday, after Thanksgivimg as the Maplewood Rotarians arrive at the Maplewood Community Pool, bright and early, to unload fresh Christmas Trees delivered from rural Pennsylvania.  Fraser Firs and Douglas Firs will be available in various sizes and one is sure to be the perfect fit for your home.  Prices range from $50 to $125.  And, you can also choose from a wonderful selection of beautiful wreaths,  expertly decorated by long-time Rotarian Carol Gilligan and her helpers.

Norman Woolley, the only remaining original pioneer of the Christmas Tree Sale said, “34 years ago, we needed a fundraiser to help more people in town.  It began with an idea from one of the members.  We only had $500 to buy some Christmas Trees and sold them.  It turned out so well we keep doing it every year.  The money we have raised over the years has done so much for our community.”

The Maplewood Rotary Club is grateful for the past and continued support from the community. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year.  All the proceeds from the sales address local needs. An example of what past proceeds supported- Columbia High School Scholarships, the Food Bank of NJ, Boy Scouts, Camp Merry Heart (an Easter Seals camp), 3rd Grade Dictionary Project, Maplewood Memorial Day Parade, 4th of July Ice Cream Eating contest, Maplewood Service Men and Women, the arts and, on a case by case basis, special needs of the community and its members.

Support your community and purchase your Christmas Tree from the Maplewood Rotary Club.  We will be at the Maplewood Community Pool  beginning The Saturday after Thanksgiving until all the trees are sold.  Hours are Sat. – Sun from 9am -6pm and Mon – Fri from 6pm -8pm

Happy Holidays to you and your family from the Maplewood Rotary Club!!!!!
